Haulin' #2

Hey guys,
Right so part two of my haul, mainly clothes. Nothing too exciting - they're basically all basics and boring things! I still thought I'd share it with you... I love seeing what other people buy so hopefully someone else out there does too! Haha.

River Island, crop long sleeve £5 (was £12.99)

My only sale item! It's a really cute bright blue colour and it's quite a boxy long sleeve top. It's also cropped, to the point where it ends just at the middle of the waist. They only had it in a size 14 (I'm 10/12) but I really like that it's a bit baggier.

Miss Selfridge, Ribbed long sleeve £10

I love these basic ribbed long sleeve t-shirts from Miss Selfridge. They're great for lazy days to just wear with jeans or leggings and I thought this colour was really beautiful, it's an emerald, mossy green. I think green looks really good against brown hair and eyes.

Primark, Textured bodycon vest £6.00

Just a plain black bodycon vest/dress with a textured fabric... kind of like waffle weave? I'm going to use this under tops that aren't quite long enough to be worn alone or with leggings instead of wearing bodycon skirts all the time! I almost bought this in grey too which I wish I did now, looks like another trip to town for me!

Primark, Canvas plimsols £4.00

I saw these and I thought they looked much more expensive than Primark shoes, they're actually really good quality. They're pretty much plimsols but without the laces, I really like them. They're much better than the other Primark plimsols I had, because these have sturdy rubber soles.

Primark, Taupe satchel £9.00

I've been looking for a satchel bag for absolutely ages - that was affordable! I saw this little beauty in Primark and loved it. They did have some satchels before; the tan and black ones that everyone has but they weren't quite what I wanted. This one is perfect... not too small and not too big. A steal for £9!

WH Smiths, Lauren Conrad Style £7.49 (was £14.99)

I almost bought this book when it first came out, but I'm glad I waited because it's pretty much half price at WH Smiths now! There's a particular part I'm looking forward to reading... 'Jeans. Finding the right pair' I can never find perfect jeans!

So there's the end of my haul! You'll probably see little other hauls soon as my birthday is coming up and I'll probably go on a little shopping trip then too. Hope you've all been enjoying time off school/college/uni. Even though I'll be quite glad to go back... the bit in between Christmas and the New Year is really awkward and, well, a little bit boring!

Haulin'

Hello, hello!
So a few days ago I went shopping and bought a few bits and bobs. Only one item I bought was in the sale - I'm such a rubbish sale shopper! Nothing I bought is overly exciting, but I thought I'd share with you guys anyway :) This will be the first post which will be just cosmetics, and tomorrow I will post the clothes and other pieces I bought otherwise this will jut be one mammoth post!

Barry M Nail Paints Fuchsia, Cobalt Blue + Indigo £2.99 each
Barry M Lip Paint, 147 Peachy Pink £4.49
MAC Limited Edition lipstick, The Faerie Glen £12.50
Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick, Spotlight Beige £6.29

Lip Salves Spearmint + Strawberry £0.99
Plamer's Cocoa lip butter £1.79

I went a little crazy with lip balms... I literally already have hundreds! I really like the Boots Lip Salves, I think they're equally as good compared to the likes of Nivea. I got really into Palmer's Cocoa Butter for the body lately, the smell is delish so I thought I'd try the lip balm out too.

L'Oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss £6.19
L'Oreal Volume Milliion lashes mascara £8.29 (was £11.29)
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation £6.19 (was £8.19)

Cranberry Joy Body Butter £6.00 (was £12.50)
Vanilla Eau De Toilette £9.00

It's £6.00 on selected body butters at the moment at The Body Shop, so get yourselves down there... it's always best to get them when they're on offer because £12.50 is a bit pricey! I always get one in the sales lol. It was a toss up between Cranberry and Almond, which smells exactly like cherry bakewells!

Umberto Giannini Backcomb In A Bottle £5.49
Hollister body spray, Solana Beach £8

A Hollister has just opened in the mall near me, which is pretty exciting. I want to hate brands like Abercrombie and Hollister, but I just love them! The body sprays smell so good, they're all really fruity and I wanted to buy them all! They're 2 for £12 but I thought I'd stick to one.

So that's the end of cosmetics, tomorrow will be clothing and other bits... also, swatches of the lipsticks and nail polishes will be up soon. And if you want me to do reviews on any of these particular products then let me know and I'd be more than happy :)

NYE

Hello beauties!
New Years Eve is rapidly approaching and what says NYE more than glitter??? I decided to do a look based around the notoriously glittery eyeshadow from Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy. I think everyone here on blogger has heard about Midnight Cowboy, if not owned it. It's a beautiful, beautiful shade that comes with a lot of fall out and Fix+ is definitely it's saviour!

Those of you who have read my blog for a while probably know that I don't do 'out there' make up, so this is pretty neutral. I wish I'd have bought falsies to go with this look because I think it would look gorgeous with them. But, I don't have any fake eyelashes and I'm actually a falsies virgin *mouth drop* Anyways, this is what I came up with, pretty simple but that bit of glitter that New Years Eve needs :)

All the eyeshadows I used are from the Urban Decay Alice palette.

- 'Drink Me Eat Me' all over the lid as a base
- Spray my brush with Fix+ and pat 'Midnight Cowboy' all over lid
- 'Chessur' on crease and blended
- 'Jabberwocky' on the outer creased and winged out slightly
- 'Jabberwocky' pushed into the lower and upper lashline
- Lined waterline with Benefit 'Bad Gal'
- Lashings of mascara and Voila!

Whenever I just post the eyeshadow look, people are always curious what the whole face shot looks like, so I thought I'd show you how I'd wear my face make up with this look too...

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation
Elf High Definition powder
MAC Harmony as contour
MAC Well dressed as blush
Elf Golden Bronzer as highlight on cheek+brow bones

Avon lipstick in Pout
MUA lipgloss in Shade 1

I don't actually have any plans for NYE as of yet, I'm gutted I'm not 18 in time! What are your plans? Are you planning a big glitter-fest?

Day 26 - Your week, in great detail

Hello my loves,
I just want to start off the post saying I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and if you don't celebrate Christmas then I hope you've enjoyed your weekend as well as the extra days off work ;) So I've neglected the '30 day tag' for a long time. I think I'm getting a little bit bored of it (I'm very fickle) and also because there seems to be more and more writing about my boring life!

So this portion is my week 'in great detail'. In great detail it will not be and I can't promise excitement. Cheating however, will be found here!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday:
So this was the cheating I was talking about. I've bundled these 3 days together because I came down with the flu-ey bug that everyone has seemed to be getting. Was literally awful... I had fever, all the symptoms of a cold and I was sore to the touch. Although, I did decide I couldn't lollop around feeling sorry for myself and I tried to get as much revision done as humanly possible. I have exams and re-take exams in January and it would be really nice to do well! Biology is the subject I struggle with the most, there's so much information - too much information to cram into my delicate brain!

Thursday:
On Thursday I'd started to feel a bit better. But Christmas was near and my Dad still had a lot of food shopping to do. He always hosts Boxing Day and we try to make Christmas a day longer ;) So I popped out with him in the morning piling Pringles, Nuts, Wine, Beer, Twiglets, Veggies and Fizzy pop into the shopping trolley. Tell a lie, into a shopping basket (yes, I know) my Dad has something against trolleys and insists of packing the shopping into a basket. End result? 3 trips to Sainsbury's a week. We got in and then I did what? Eff all! I got some more revision done, and that's about as exciting my days get lately.

Friday:
One of my favourite days of the year... Christmas Eve!! I wanted to spend this day pretty much on my feet so that I would definitely be tired by the time it gets to bed time so that I would actually be able to sleep and not be the child that I am watching the clock tick down. So I started the day watching various Christmas films. I then realised that I had numerous Christmas presents left to wrap and luckily the postman came o'knocking, to my absolute delight! I then went out with my Santa bag full of goodies, handing out presents to the family. Dean then came and picked me up and we went back to his and started packing up his stuff ready for him to move out - never under estimate how tiring this is. By the end of that I was ready to get home and into my pjs!

Saturday:
CHRISTMAS DAY!! I was up at 6am sharp, texting everyone my festive messages. Got my dad up, then opened my presents. I would do a Christmas haul but I mainly got money anyway. My boyf then picked me up at about 9am and we started on our journey. First stop, Dean's Mum's house. Madness! 2 crazy kids along with 2 crazy dogs, opened some of our presents then and had a bit of a tipple (in the morning, I know, I know). We then left and went to Dean's Dad's, our main stay of the day and most importantly... the place we filled our bellies ;) Dean's Stepmum Woo made the most delicious dinner and plied me with plenty of Bucks Fizz... what, it's Christmas?! Dean's nan came down from Bristol too, who is about 70 and just had 2 tattoos done! 10/10! We then went onto my Mum's where we chilled and watched some Christmas telly, then back to my house to scoff our faces, look back on the day and sleep! Really amazing day full of fantastic people <3

Sunday:
Boxing day! I never realised that the States don't really celebrate Boxing day. My dad hosted and one of my Sisters, her boyfriend and the kids came round along with my Grandma. We had yummy steak for dinner followed by a layered cheesecake made by my own fair hands ;) Didn't go exactly as planned as I didn't realise that we were a bit short of some ingredients. Tasted better than it looked, lol! Afterwards we played board games - pictionary and balderdash. NEVER PLAY GAMES WITH MY SISTER. She is crazy competitive! And as always, games result in family arguments but plenty of laughs.

No post is complete without a picture, even if it is completely unrelated! &If you've made it to this part of the post - give yourself a pat on the back! Expect a bit of a haul tomorrow... I mainly got money and I'm venturing into town for lunch and shopping tomorrow with one of best girlfriends Kelly. I've already got a list going on in my head ;)

Christmas Tag!

Hello beautifuls,
It's Christmas Eve!!! How exciting is that? And yesterday I was reading Christina Marie's lastest post which was The Christmas Tag, what could be more fitting? I love everything Christmas and so I had to do this. This is Christina's original post if you want to go and have I look (I suggest you check out the rest of her blog whilst you're there!). Without further adue...

What's your favourite holiday movie?

I could not pick between these 2 films, they both sum up Christmas to me and never fail to make me happy! Of course they are... Miracle on 34th Street and The Grinch. Mainly because they both include major scrooges which are eventually turned around and made feel festive. Something I aim to do to others every year!

What's your favourite Christmas colour?

It has to be the red-white combo! I suck at only giving one straight answer; I apologise!! But yes, red and white means Christmas to me Father Christmas' outfit, candy canes and coca-cola all have red and white. All of the Christmas essentials ;) Oh and a bit of green and gold mixed in!

Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up?

Every year without fail I will open my presents in my festive pyjamas or in trackies. After that I go and get dressed... nothing fancy shmancy we don't do that. And this year it's going to be exactly the same :D

Have you ever built a gingerbread house?

No, but I would absolutely love to! I promise that next year I WILL make one - you heard it here first ;) Lol! I love gingerbread men so a whole house? That would be amazing! Plus it would show my builiding skills ;)

If you could only buy one person a present, who would it be?

I think I'd have to say my boyfriend. Because I don't think I could choose only one family member or only one friend, but I do only have one boyfriend (lols!) so it seems like the easiest and most sensible choice :)

Do you open your presents in the morning or evening?

In the morning nice and early! All hell would break loose if I had to wait until the evening time. It's hard enough having to wait until everyone else has woken up! Christmas day is the only day when the snooze button is left untouched.

What do you like to do on your Christmas break?

Normally... wrap up nice and warm watching many films, drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and eating all of the Christmas goodies, when else do you get to do it? This year however, I'm spending most of my Christmas break revising.

Any Christmas wishes?

Just the obvious wishes... for everyone to enjoy the presents I got them and for everybody I know to have a fantastic Christmas, including you guys! But if I could have one wish it would be to wish that nobody has to spend Christmas alone this year.

What's your favourite Christmas smell?

It has to be the smell of the Starbucks Christmas drinks! Whether it be a Gingerbread Latte, Peppermint Hot Chocolate or Peppermint Mocha. I love the smell (and taste) of every single one of them! Plus the cute little cups they come in ;)

What's your favourite Christmas meal or treat?

Of course it has to be the roast turkey Christmas lunch with all the trimmings - stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, parsnips all that yummy stuff. But that would've been too predictable. I love, love, love the roast turkey and stuffing sandwiches that you're eating well into the New Year because the turkey was far too big. There's nothing like it! :D

Feel free to do this tag - although you only have one day left ;) This is going to be my last post before Christmas so I just want to take the chance to wish you all a Merry Christmas! I hope it's special for each and every one of you and you get lots of goodies and fill your faces! I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THESE PHOTO'S. IMAGES SOURCE: WEHEARTIT.

Sum-up #1

-- In a recent post I mentioned 'summary' posts and I was trying to decide whether or not I should do them. Wondering whether or not anyone would really read them, or care. But I've decided I'm going to go ahead and do them :)

-- Christmas and the end of the year is a hectic time for all of us, but it's been particularly crazy this year... I have A2 exams as well as AS level resits in January, so I've been sticking to numerous revision timetables. I think I've been quite successful with it so far, pretty organised and I haven't strayed from it all that much. After college, I was planning on moving in with my boyfriend and into the flat he's in right now... but we've been let down by other people who we were going to flat share with and now that plans, well, down the drain. He's going to move in with his Nan and Grandad and I'm going to stay here with my Daddy. But it's all good! I'm still young and have plenty of time for moving out and all that jazz.

-- I'm kind of gutted that I'm not 18 for this New Years Eve, but the more gutting fact is that I turn 18 four days after!! So instead, me and the boy have decided we're probably going to spend the night in Southampton. Spend the day shopping and then stay overnight at a Hotel with a cheeky bottle of Rose or champers if we're lucky. If any of you have recommendations of Hotels in Southampton, let me know!

-- I'm still waiting on two presents from Amazon, I'm hoping they'll get here in time but it's not the end of the world if they don't. Also awaiting an order from BooHoo! I was really shocked actually... on Monday MAC were offering free standard shipping, something that always gets me! So off I popped to the website and ordered a lipstick from the Tartan Tale Collection. Officially my first MAC LE product! 24 hours later... my package was with me! And I love the lipstick. My sister has borrowed my camera to take to her best friend's wedding, but when I get it back expect a dedicated post!

Hope you're all well, and enjoyed (?) my rubbish attempt at a summary post. I'm easing myself in ;)

Hankering for healthy hair

Hello :)
My mission for healthy, long and shiny hair is continuous. The thing is, I get bored then chop it all off and then decide that I want my long hair back. It's a vicious circle! After another session on weheartit when I really should be revising, I found some inspiration photo's to stop my from chopping off my locks! Major envy...

Get your pins out!

Hiya girlies,
Lately I've been falling increasingly in love with skirts. What bought this on? I have no idea. Maybe the fact that you can still look chic and stylish in the autumn/winter but still be warm by sticking on a few pairs of 100 derniers underneath? But I also think I'm going to be donning skirts for the festive season - i feel like you could still wear them regularly after all the glitz of Christmas and New Years has gone because they really are so versatile.

I've picked a few daytime and nightime favourites from BooHoo and ASOS. I love both these online shops, and especially BooHoo because it's so affordable! Time to pull out that St Tropez ladies ;)

Daytime

Gorgeous little floral and polka dot skirt, which is only £5 at the moment at BooHoo!!! In the cold weather opaques and knee highs are probably your best bet, but you could definitely keep this running through to spring and summer! I'd pair these with some worker boots to make it a little bit edgier.

I'm totally in love with this skirt - it's so pretty and girlie. I've put this under 'daytime' but this would be so easy to dress up! Again, opaques are necessary in the winter, with some pretty little ballet pumps. I think this looks best with something tucked into it, and I think a white baggy vest tucked in with maybe a blazer or cardigan over the top would be really pretty.

Another bit of lace! Again, girly and feminine. It's quite a statement skirt, so again a plain vest top tucked in with a blazer is casual but smart at the same time - add a big necklace and heels and you have a night time look too.

Nightime

This is a great skirt to wear for dinner or even a party. Love this skirt, I'd pair it with some black wedges and tights, leopard print is love!

I'm really thinking about ordering this for Christmas... it's red and it's ruffly. What more could you want??

Christmas outfit - check. Now we have one for New Years Eve! Love the studs, love bodycon skirts! I think a nice black off the shoulder top tucked in, or a swing style vest over the top would be nice. The studs are the main focus of this, some nude platforms I think would be super cute.

*I wrote this post a few days ago because I knew I wouldn't have much time to blog. There have been further reductions on BooHoo so pop on over and have a look. I've ordered 2 of these skirts so look out for a mini haul*

What are your recent loves? Have you decided on your Christmas and NYE outfits??

Tweet tweet

Hello my loves,
So who can guess what this post is about? Lol, yes I finally hopped on board the Twitter bandwagon! I'm still finding my bearings really but I just thought I'd let you know in case you would like to get to know me a bit better or just to see some rambles :) Will I get addicted? More than likely!

So if you want to follow me... @ntlieread, and please leave your Twitters (?) down below, I'm nosey like that ;) And if you have any suggestions of who I should follow, suggest away!

On a second note, I'm thinking of starting 'summary' posts. A) Because I love reading them and B) Because I think they'd be quite good fun to right. However... would anyone be interested? And honestly, my life's not that exciting so they probably wouldn't be weekly. What do you think, as yano... 'followers' of my blog. Gah I hate that word!

Third note - thanks so much for all the feedback you give me, it may be self indulgent but I love coming on blogger after a long, not so great day and seeing the lovely comments you guys leave!

Next week...

Hey guys,
So, this time next week it will be Christmas day!!!! I'm feeling ridiculously festive, but I know a lot of people out there are still not in the mood or just plain scrooges :P So I dare you to not be feeling festive and fuzzy inside after seeing these photo's...
